Luis López nació en San Miguel el 24 de diciembre de 1946. Lo de la música empezó desde que era muy pequeño. "Cuando tenía mas o menos unos 5 años de edad me recuerdo cantando en una mecedora a la par de un radio, cantaba las canciones que estaban de moda. El rock & roll empezaba a nacer en Estados Unidos y en otras latitudes pero aquí en nuestro país lo que yo escuchaba era música de Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete".
Luis conoció al rock a través de la música de Chuck Berry "La primera canción de rock que escuché se llamaba Sweet little sixteen", López también recuerda cuando escúchó las alegres notas de la canción "See you later aligator", de Bill Halley and the Comets, para muchos reconocido como el "papá" del rock & roll.
"El rock & roll en sus comienzos fue un movimiento que lo envolvió todo, a todos los países, a todas las culturas, a todas las juventudes que habían en el mundo" comenta López sobre el ritmo y género del cual se enamoró.
A parecieron entonces los grandes astros del rock entre los que destacaron nombres como Jerry Lee Lewis, el mismo Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly y B.B. King. El país pronto se contagió con la fiebre de la moda rock & roll.
