Kroma se formó en el año de 1995 cuando 4 jóvenes decidieron unir sus habilidades para componer música. Es así como en la alineación original se encontraban Josué Guzmán, guitarrista y estudiante de bachillerato; David Ascencio, originario de Georgia, Atlanta, bajista y músico a tiempo completo; Cachi, el compositor, cantante y bohemio del grupo; Benjamín Andrade, estudiante de Administración de Empresas y baterista. Así comenzaron las largas horas de ensayo para preparar suficiente material. Su objetivo:"Grabar un demo que enviarian a Sony Music". Todo un año de preparación y proceso creativo requirió para que tuvieran listos 15 temas los cuales iban desde una mezcla de blues y funk hasta heavy . Desgraciadamente la oportunidad con Sony no se dio. Pero un 26 de octubre del 1996 se les presento el chance de hacer su debut en el Festival Salvarock 96 en el Auditórium de la UCA junto a otras agrupaciones y en el cual demostraron que tenían una buena propuesta musical. Desde entonces, la banda tomo la iniciativa de empezar a tocar y fue así como se empezaron a presentar en bares de la Zona Rosa. La acogida del publico a temas como "La Huida", "Isabela", "Te venís o te vas" fue buena pues además de la variedad de estilos de sus canciones, deleitaban al publico con "covers" que incluían bandas como Rush, Van Halen, Primus, Jimi Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Cream, Aerosmith, etc. Luego de un tiempo en el año de 1997 vino el retiro de la banda de Josué por motivos personales. Fue cuando entro al grupo Gerardo Pardo, ex Roten Apples (al igual que Josué y Benjamín) quien vino a darle una nueva energía al grupo con tonadas más progresivas y metaleras. Pero vino la desgracia ese mismo año cuando trágicamente Cachi falleció en un accidente. La decisión si continuar o no, era muy difícil por lo que el grupo se tomo un tiempo para meditar las cosas. Finalmente se decidió continuar y se busco una nueva voz para el grupo. La tarea no era fácil pues todavía estaba el dolor de la perdida de Cachi. Fue llamado a probar suerte un joven ex integrante de una banda llamada Hash quien con su peculiar forma de armonizar varias voces y componer líricas se gano su lugar en Kroma. Así Alex Salaverria entro a formar parte de la banda. Los toque continuaron y en Septiembre del 97 se presento otro evento grande: el Festival Rock al Asar. Un evento de 2 días donde se presentaron 13 bandas. El grupo se dedico a prepararse para este evento. Nerviosos y tensos, los miembros de Kroma veían desfilar los grupos en el escenario, muchos ya reconocidos en el medio, y esperaban su turno de subir a la tarima. El publico estaba encendido. Los grupos anteriores habían hecho saltar, y vibrar a la gente que quería más. Kroma empezó su presentación. La gente intento hacer "mosh" pero no pudo, la música era diferente, distinta, nueva para ellos. Era para "ser escuchada". Y así fue. Fueron 45 minutos de ritmos variados, melodías con sentimiento, letras para pensar y un gran derroche de habilidad que al final fue ovacionado con un gran aplauso general que dejo entrever que había surgido una nueva banda que se salía del esquema. De esa experiencia, Kroma veía el futuro con nuevos brillos. Se presentaron en otros eventos y conciertos como en el Concierto Pro Cultura del Rock en el Parque Libertad. Pero en diciembre de ese mismo año David decidió regresar a Estados Unidos por motivos familiares. La ruptura del grupo era inminente. Él poseía los derechos de las canciones y su ida representaba el fin del grupo. Kroma desapareció.
Los miembros que quedaron se dedicaron a actividades diferentes. Gerardo se incorporo al grupo Bohemia, Benjamín se dedico a tocar para un Ministerio de Alabanza (aunque parezca extraño) y Alex se unió a los ex Ovni.
Luego de casi año y medio, Benjamín, Gerardo y Alex se reunieron a recordar los días de Kroma y decidieron intentarlo otra vez. Acordaron que no importaba el comenzar otra vez desde cero pero que estaban dispuestos a volver a lograr lo que una vez tuvieron. El camino seria difícil. Se incorporaron además Fila Gómez, guitarra rítmica, Arnoldo Morales bajista y Romeo Andrade baterista. La combinación de los hermanos Andrade en la batería y el estilo que cada uno le impregnaba le daban a las canciones un viejo aire a la ya extinta agrupación Roten Apples.
Así en Octubre de 1999 empezaron a crear nuevas canciones con un estilo mas fresco. Ya para Abril del 2000 ya estaban grabando los primeros 3 temas. Se involucraron en proyectos como lo Tributos a Pearl Jam, Bon Jovi y Guns¨n Roses.
