ABORÍGENES: Por la sangre, las raíces y el metal
Año de Nacimiento: 1998
Género: Power metal, trash metal.
Influencias: Sepultura, Pantera, Slayer, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Jimmy Hendrix, Dream Theather, Black Sabbath, Soul Fly, Rush, Slipknot, Broncco (El Salvador).
Aborígenes es quizá, en la actualidad, el más poderoso y pesado exponente del movimiento Power Metal (hardcore) guanaco. A parte de su calidad musical, el grupo ha destacado por el contenido lírico de su material: que alaba la herencia indígena de nuestra sangre, señala la injusticia social y otros problemas de nuestra violenta sociedad.
Su sonido es radicalmente más agresivo que otros exponentes del género power; pero todavía no puede ser clasificado como perteneciente a las filas del asesina familia del Black Metal y sus derivados.
La banda fue formada en Noviembre - Diciembre de 1998 a raíz de la separación y recomposición de la otrora mítica banda de los noventa “La Iguana”.
Actualmente Aborígenes está compuesto por Hugo “El thrasher” Olano en la guitarra, Eduardo “El Conejo” Rodríguez, en la garganta; y “El Vago” (ex Suppositorios) en el bajo quien es el miembro más nuevo de la banda.
De “La Iguana” sólo queda Juan Carlos Chavaría (en la bataca) ya que recientemente la banda se quedó sin su virtuoso guitarrista líder, Jaime “Hulk” Varela. El músico le confirmó a este medio que su separación se debió a compromisos personales inesperados luego de la muerte de su padre y que su participación en el proyecto ha quedado suspendida.
Sin embargo, la banda todavía se mantiene pese a la enorme baja de “Hulk” (que será extremadamente difícil suplir). A pesar de ello, la agrupación ya demostró en un reciente concierto, en el cual compartieron escenarios con el grupo Pusher (Guatemala) y Raíces Torcidas, que están bien parados y que habrá Aborígenes para un buen rato.
Historia
El grupo apareció en los escenarios por primera vez en el Salvarock 98. En esa ocasión la banda cerró el toque con las canciones “Sentenciados por la ignorancia” y “Vive aborigen”.
En Febrero – Marzo de 1999 la banda ya había metido pie en los estudios y su música quedó inmortalizada en un primer demo. Dicho demo fue grabado en los estudios de Electrónica 2001 (ya inexistente).
Los temas sonaron fuerte por mucho tiempo y todavía lo siguen haciendo en la programación de los medios radiales abiertos al rock nacional. La aceptación de la banda por el exigente público salvadoreño no fue del todo sorpresiva como lo comenta Hugo Olano: “Había una gran expectativa pues “La Iguana” había hecho un nombre grande”, Aborígenes era en un principio “La Iguana” sin Roberto “El greñas” Torrez.
Eduardo Rodríguez “El Conejo”, ya había tocado en otras bandas y era primo de Juan Carlos Chavarría por lo que la plaza de vacante de vocalista fue ocupada rápidamente.
Después de algún tiempo “El Conejo”, se va a los Estados Unidos por lo que la banda queda “en coma”, y no reaparecen hasta un concierto el que comparten escenarios con la poderosa banda argentina “A.N.I.M.A.L.”, y lo hacen con la ayuda de Cesar Magaña, vocalista de LA PEPA. Dicho concierto convence a sus integrantes de que las cosas no podían quedarse así. El aborigen debía renacer.
El destino y los problemas con el hombre blanco traen “de regre” a “El Conejo” quien llega al país en el año 2002. Juntos de nuevo, la banda ha retomado los escenarios y ya están avanzados en la grabación de su nueva producción discográfica en los estudios AUDIO Z (emprendida hace 2 años) que ya ha dado como fruto el sencillo “Centroamérica en pié”.
Esta rola habla sobre los mártires centroamericanos tales como Monseñor Romero, Cesar Augusto Sandino y Farabundo Martí. “No podemos enterrar esa causa por la que lucharon. No tiene nada que ver con una tendencia izquierdista. Es sólo nuestra ideología. La canción habla sobre como esta gente ha podido mover masas y como trataron de hacer algo bueno por su país y que murieron por su causa”, explica Eduardo Rodríguez y agrega “La música de Aborígenes habla sobre problemas sociales y las cosas que pasan a diario pero enfocado desde el punto de vista de la raza. Para que toda la mara haga conciencia de donde venimos y hacia adonde podemos ir. No podes ir a ningún lado si no sabes acerca de nuestra cultura, de nuestro folclor. Tenemos que estar orgullosos de quienes somos”, concluye.
Sin duda que Aborígenes tendrá que superar el reto de haber perdido un miembro, pero la banda se siente segura de poder avanzar. Si todo va bien, de seguro escucharemos mucho acerca de esta prometedora banda, una de las mejores y profesionales de nuestro país.
