LA HISTORIA
La pepa fue una banda de El Salvador, fundada en el 1999 por el bajista Ivan Patino. La alineacion original es conformada por Ivan Patino en Bajo, Cesar Magana en la voz, Juan Gómez y Edwin Ruiz en las guitarras y Sandro Valladares en Batería. En el 2002 La pepa lanzo su primer disco HASTA CUANDO? en el cual la banda muestra su nueva alineación musical agregando a Octavio Salman después la lamentable muerte de Sandro Valladares, y también la salida del guitarrista Edwin Ruis. Este disco es editado de formal independiente pero luego lanzado bajo el sello Mexicano Vaquita Records (ludell records) en México DF. Este disco marca la primera etapa de esta banda Salvadoreña. Luego a la salida de Octavio Salman, llega Juan Carlos Chavarria grabando el segundo disco titulado INSTINTO. Esta producción nunca fue lanzada debido a la abrupta disolución de la banda en el 2004.
La pepa se posiciono como uno de los más grandes exponentes del rock nacional salvadoreño. La pepa llevo su música a cientos de oídos en México Guatemala y El Salvador, mostrando el talento de los músicos salvadoreños en cada concierto. Después de la grabación del segundo disco, es cuando la pepa toma parte en tres exitosas giras por México DF compartiendo escenario con grandes bandas del movimiento rockero latinoamericano y anglosajón. Bandas como PUYA ( Puerto Rico ), KITTY( Canadá ), A.N.I.M.A.L (Argentina ), Resorte ( México ), Ángeles del Infierno ( España ), Rata Blanca ( Argentina ), Leprosy ( México ), etc.
La pepa cierra su ciclo en el 2004 y cada uno de sus integrantes busca un nuevo camino dentro de su crecimiento musical pero no sin antes dejar un legado de buen rock con mucho poder y con mucho amor por su publico.....queda esta pagina para todos sus fans pasado, presente y futuro.....SUERTE O MUERTE!!!!
EVOLUCION DE LA BANDA:
1997 - Pamela Robin en vos, Pedro Portillo en percusiones, Ivan Patino en Bajo, Edwin Ruis en guitarra y Sandro Valladares en Bateria. 1999 - entra Cesar Magana en Vocales y Juan Gomez en Guitarra. 2002 entra Otavio Salman en bateria. 2003 entra Juan Chavarria en bateria. 2004 entran Henry Rubio en baterias y Jorge Lopez el Brocoli en guitarra.
¿Que es La Pepa ?
El nombre de la banda se retoma de una palabra callejera. La "Pepa" es el nombre que se le da a el ojo después de fumar Marihuana. "Qué Pepas te traes...", "¿Se me notan las pepas?", etc. En diferentes países se le puede encontrar muchos significados, desde ser una semilla, hasta ser una parte femenina íntima.
